After about and hour or two with layering and trying different patterns, I created what I call "Kitten in the Window Sill" because this painting has a lot of fun colors and it makes me smile when I look at it. (S said he "didn't get it", I said it's modern art, of course you don't get it, no one does.)
I didn't use anything fancy - just an 11 x 14 canvas, some acrylics (the cheap $0.59 kind, which I would say splurge the extra $0.50 for the more expensive ones, you get MUCH better coverage per stroke), and a 1.5" Purdy brush.
I've already started working on the second piece of artwork with the other canvas I had that's going to hang below it, but let me preface this picture by letting you know how RAW this is right now. Like it looks like a 7 year old made it.
See where the paint isn't getting full coverage? That's why I said splurge for the slightly more expensive paint, otherwise you have to go do triple coats over everything. Getting to this point had taken me like an hour, so I had to stop and walk away since this is only my base coat and there's a lot more left to do, but I'll be sure to show you the finished product. The beauty of it is if I end up hating it, I can just keep painting over it until I like it.
And I'll give you a quick update on my New Year's Resolution - I'm still working on organizing my time a little better, mainly, I would like to get on a really good 10PM to 6AM sleep schedule. Those 3 to 4 hours I would have before R wakes up would be perfect for getting stuff done. I'm not here yet though, last night it was more like 11PM to 9AM, soooo I'm still slowly adjusting a little bit every night. Part of that two will be cutting out any naps for myself during the day so I will be super tired when 10PM rolls around.
Okay enough play back to work - Happy Monday Y'all.

Modern Art is way harder than it looks...you did an awesome job! BTW I get up at 5:30 just to have time to my self and I LOVE it!!! Not only do I accomplish more things but there is something so cosy about knowing my family is upstairs happily seeping! It is worth it!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
